ECU cloning

When diagnosing that the engine control unit is defective, there are 3 solutions:

a) The garage orders a new engine control unit from the manufacturer/importer. For cars, we're talking about CHF 1,500 to CHF 2,000 for the engine control unit spare part. It then has to be installed and taught in through the garage, which costs another approx. CHF 500.

b) With the immobilizer, VIN and other unique vehicle information that is in the Eeprom & Flash memory, the manufacturers have ensured that an already installed engine control unit cannot be transferred to another vehicle.
In many cases, ChipTuningPower can read the original engine control unit and write it to an identical recycling engine control unit from the car demolition. After the copy service, you only need to plug in the new engine control unit and start the car (sometimes clear the error messages with the car diagnostic device).
You can get a used engine control unit for around 300 CHF. Including cloning, you get about 1/3 of the costs of variant a.

c) Motor control units are very complex and have protection mechanisms against overvoltage in the form of fuses soldered directly on the circuit board. A repair is often associated with high costs (know-how not available, replacement fuse difficult to obtain, time factor, and repairs are rarely guaranteed). Therefore, this measure is rarely considered.
Under certain conditions, ChipTuningPower can also repair engine control units.

Unfortunately, the garage puts its own interests (profit, little effort and no risk) in the foreground and therefore presents Variant A as the only possible option.

In the interests of the customer, one would always have to propose variant B and, if this does not exist, check variant C.

ChipTuningPower has the knowledge and tools needed to implement the most cost-effective solution for you.
